Skylark Went National.  August 4-11th  2006
In 2006 we had a successful outing to the Optimist Nationals at Pwllheli where a week’s sailing was campaigned by Hannah in quite demanding conditions.

Up to force 4 at times in seas up to 5 feet. We were rewarded by Skylark GBR 5339 winning the Kelley Trophy for being the best presented boat of the event, out of some 360 Optimists, many of which were brand new!
During registration we had an opportunity to get our boat weighed on the official IOCA scales, and she weighed in at 35.9 kg, against a minimum weight limit of 35 kg. Most boats weighing around the 35.4 to 35.5 kg mark to be sure not to go under the minimum. So we are pleased to see that we are only around 400 grams heavy, which could be just a good breakfast in the helm! Of course Skylark was not built to be the ultimate lightweight Optimist, but the next one we build will be!
